How we evaluate gambling sites

Match.Center Kenya – For your best bookmaker match!

How we evaluate gambling sites

Our site will not rate bookmakers highly for nothing. There must be sufficient reasons for us to consider sportsbook a top-notch gambling service. To evaluate websites we created a 9-stage grading system. We used it to assess each of the Kenian licensed operators. Then, to complete the ranking, we compiled results and directly compared bookies. Let’s have a look at some of the scoring specifics.

A platform might be rated low in case of one of the following:

  • Punters’ comfort is our main priority. We won’t let anything, including attempts to buy a spot on our list, affect the result of the ratings.
  • We have spent years evaluating countless operators worldwide. We’ve had first-hand experience with many top sportsbooks, so we have high standards.
  • We focus our examination exclusively on betting products. Casinos and bingo do not give bonus points. They will likely lose them because of mixing sportsbook markets with other games.

The 9-stage matrix is divided into these categories:

  • Technology & Product
  • Offers & Payments
  • UX & Support

Then we give out marks on a scale from 1 to 10 for each. We use the average grades to rate the bookmakers. If it so happens, that a single site is a market leader in a certain category we award it with an achievement.

Technology & Product

In this category, we assess the overall bookmaker services. Many things come into play such as convenient tools, exclusive and regular features, margin and general competitiveness of odds.

Events and markets

We look for the number of sports available to punters, how many markets are offered pre-match, and the odds for popular selections such as the outright winner of the match, as well as the total goals or handicap. This allows us to see the bigger picture, as sometimes, barely known betting sites offer much more value to gamblers than big brands with high margins.

10 points will be awarded to a platform that implements 3% or less fees on prices and has at least 30 disciplines covered with 500+ pre-match selections for premiere football events.

Screenshots below will showcase the structure more vividly:

Gradation by number of sports
Gradation by size of margin
Gradation by size of margin

Market size is not truly a fair grading metric. Some bookmakers tend to go sneaky and offer you countless choices for the correct score, however, true market size is mismatched in such occurrences. This is a perfect example of a bad quality range despite large numbers. This is the reason why we are checking not only the size but the relevancy as well.

Evaluating based on the market size is not truly fair. Some might offer you many options for the final score, however, there will only be two choices for handicap or total goals. Therefore, despite having a lot of markets, this would be a case of a bad quality range. That is why we consider not only the number of betting options but their relevancy.

Live streaming

The In-Play section is available at almost every sportsbook site nowadays. Hence it is not a way to measure live offerings. We decided to switch our attention to streaming because not all operators are ready to spend money on licensing to provide punters with a visual representation of games. We believe it is a great indicator of a platform that wants to provide to live gamblers and is going out of its way for extra customer convenience.

The more sports you can watch on the site, the better the overall grade. Of course, we prioritise popular competitions and tournaments such as the Premier League, Serie A, NBA, etc. We also evaluate the terms at which punters can use the feature. Should you have an unsettled wager or positive balance to watch events? Are you able to watch without registering? In addition, we award points to those who present broadcast schedules, even if there is no video yet available.

Mobile Apps

Mobile software is heavily dependent on the desktop version of the platform. It does not matter how great engineers designed it, if the product lacks quality – it will reflect on it. We do understand that creating an application that follows all modern guidelines and fits the standards of quality, safety and convenience is a costly task. As we can’t untie the app from its web version we simply grant sites 5 points per app for Android and iOS.

The basis of this assumption is similar to the previous case. In our opinion, the application is a valuable asset and shows that the bookmaker is willing to work towards the widest possible audience. It’s a handy way of gambling and we just can’t not rate it.

On the other hand, we are strongly against the practice of putting the app logos on the site. Commonly these just lead to another webpage stating an endless redirecting circle. Also, we check if they work correctly and lead to download pages.

Offers and Payments

Regular promotions for loyal players are just as important as lucrative offers for newcomers. We evaluate the quality, quantity and ease of completion for these. We also look for payment methods available to bettors, including limits and processing time. In general, this is where we compare sportsbooks and their present ways of convenient accumulation and collection of funds.

Payment systems

We give out a point per each option the operator offers – the more possibilities for punters – the better. Based on experience we believe that the best operators have as many choices as possible, although it is important to note that most players only use 1-2 different ones.

We implement sorting and simple restrictions into our assessment. For instance, all debit cards are worth one point and the same goes for e-wallets. It doesn’t matter which one you use, they all require the same information and do the same thing. Most of the time the limits of those are also equal.

Bonuses for new customers

Laws and rules allow players to have an account at as many bookmakers as they want. There is no reason for you not to take advantage of extra cash or Free Bets if these are available. Frequently the completion of offers is the main difference. Some are easy to complete and clear to understand, others are much more complicated. A lucrative offer with puzzling conditions and a hard success route won’t benefit sportsbooks rating much.

When evaluating we consider if the bookmaker forces you into other sections of their site. This will be a major drawback if you have to play casino games or spin slots to complete the offer. In such cases, bookies lose points in this criterion.

We also look if the bonus amount is split in parts if it is a package deal, or a one-time extra cash, how strict are the qualification rules, etc. For example, a No-Deposit welcome promotion should receive praise, while a smaller amount deposit offer that forces you to use half of it in slots will likely be lower rated.

Let’s have a look at a newcomer bonus at Betkwiff for an example of a great promotion for punters. You get a package of three bonuses. First of all, you get an Accumulator Free Bet based on your first wager. The incentive can go up to 10000 KES and if done correctly can bring you 200% of your funds. The second bonus consists of boosted odds for the first wager. The third incentive is once again enhanced price but for the second and third wagers.

Bonuses for existing customers

We examine these bonuses separately because they perfectly indicate how much bookies care to keep their player base. Loyalty should be rewarded and it can be done in various ways with boosted odds, no-margin promotions and many more.

Free Bet Club is one of the premiere additions of such offers. It allows punters to collect extra tickets daily or weekly based on their playing time. This can earn a bookmaker some extra points in our rankings. Loyalty programmes such as free betting predictions and fantasy competitions are also great additions that can add to the tally of a sportsbook.

UX and Support

You never know when the situation will occur where the punter needs assistance. Overwhelming terms and conditions can be difficult to remember, and there are many reasons why customers may need help. Whether it is the wrong rewards acquired, incorrect wager settlement, or wrong bet placed – customer service should be able to sort it out and assist quickly. The solution must be clear, easy to understand and completely cover the situation.

Registration and customer support

Frequently, it takes more than just an email and password to create an account at a betting site. Operators must obey laws and are forced to collect more information. We value those bookmakers who keep the process quick, transparent and simple despite that fact. We assess how this operation is handled and how many steps and time it takes to register.

Support should be available to all visitors to a betting site, both existing and potential customers. We value if the customer service can be reached through many options such as email, phone and live chat. Also, the absence of bot answers is a major upside. 24/7 assistance is going to bring points to a bookies assessment as well.

Legal information

Match.Center only showcases and examines licensed operators. Punters should be able to find all of the required information about bookmakers legality with ease. The information must be present on the website and the user must be able to click through it to get all the details. We check the terms on bet settlements, odds, margin, In-Play rules, bet types, etc.

Ease of navigation

Every second is important when you want to Cash Out quickly, or for instance, catch a valuable stake In-Play. One of the most important factors in a good bookmaker website is its design and functionality. We seek various tools from filters to quality of Bet Builder mechanics to examine how good and reliable the UX is. The favourites tab is also a great way to help punters have a place with all important events stored for quick navigation.

What we don’t consider

  • Internet reviews. Such data is difficult to incorporate objectively into the rating system. Most are written under the stress of losing a stake, by competing companies or bots. While they hold their importance, they are far from truly showcasing the quality of the product.
  • Reputation on the market. One of the most abstract criteria. Sometimes lesser-known operators, which just appeared on the market will do twice as much for punters’ comfort compared to established giants.
  • Partnership. Our ratings are clean and transparent. We don’t offer our partners an easy way to the top.
  • White label network bonus restrictions. Sometimes one company can have two betting sites. In these situations, you can choose which of them you want to activate your Welcome Promotion. This is not about the quality of the product, but more about how they do business, which is outside our assessment.
